Your hold is ready! (1. 04. 23)
Hi everyone! I’m back sooner than expected for the first newsletter of the new year, mostly because I’ve been (happily) up to my eyeballs in awesome books. This winter break, more than many others, I’ve really thrown myself into my reading, keeping odd hours to better curate my precious alone-time, reading in the small hours of the morning and on lazy afternoons in. It’s been a great way to celebrate my birthday (12/19) and this extended time of rest from school and teaching; it’s also been fantastic fuel as I’ve worked on my own writing projects. Thank you, literary sustenance.
This time of rest will, however, soon be coming to an end. Tomorrow, I fly back to stormy Davis, where I’ll have the weekend to prepare for a new quarter. Between that, my work editing swallow::tale and Stone of Madness presses, attending conferences, and more, there’s a lot on my plate. I imagine that during these busy moments, I’ll also need moments of calm and literary escape more than ever, and feel comforted (and a little intimidated) by the unread books on my shelf!
Onto business: As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I now have a paid subscription option, featuring longer essays and meditations. If you enjoy my work, consider subscribing!
Also, if you’re interested in reading more about swallow::tale press, consider subscribing to our free and paid newsletter. Mad writers and artists can submit works of any/no genre to me at [email protected] to be featured in future issues, for $10 per published piece.
Okay, I think that’s all. Have a good start to your January, and enjoy the recommendations!
