Your Hold is Ready! (8. 31. 26)
Hello from my first day of teaching (and the last day of August!)
Between truly getting settled into my new space, course prep, and spending time wth new friends and neighbors, this month really flew by. Today really felt like a culmination of this last month’s worth of efforts: I braved the bus to campus to teach my first section of class for the semester, and it went wonderfully. After a year away from teaching on a physical campus, the feeling of being back in front of an in-person classroom was indescribably wonderful. I can’t wait to get to know a new bunch of students this semester and continue to work on my pedagogy.
In addition to teaching, I’m looking forward to continuing to explore both the more urban and more rural places around here. A soft goal of mine now that I’m closer to a wider variety of trails is to build confidence in my trail-running abilities, and perhaps even sign up for a trail race.
Between the above goals, having my first overnight guest in this space when my friend comes to visit, traveling to Chicago for the Jewish High Holidays, and more, I have a lot on my plate this coming month. I’m looking forward to updating you in the next newsletter!
Housekeeping:
I have another virtual event coming up that I’d love for you to attend –– I’ll be reading with Charis Books and More’s Meet Me There series on Sept 10 at 7:30 pm Eastern.
If you want to read about transMad queercrip nonsense as aesthetic and praxis and haven’t ordered a copy yet, check out Differential Diagnosis, which is now available on Northwestern University Press’s website and on Bookshop (or, in Canada, at Another Story or your local indie!) Be sure to request it from your favorite indie bookstore, and add it on Goodreads and Storygraph.
Likewise, you can find my debut experimental-sf- trans dyke body modification novel, Failure to Comply, at featherproof books, Bookshop (+ your local indie), Another Story, Goodreads, and Storygraph.
Also - manywor(l)ds’s third anniversary issue dropped 8/15, and we reopen for submissions tomorrow, 9/01!
