Your hold is ready! (9. 27. 22)
Hello all! It’s almost the end of September already: classes have started back up, as have my teaching and other work obligations. What a month! This quarter, I’m teaching a class on US government media/propaganda, as well as taking a fiction seminar and continuing to prepare for my qualifying exams (ah!). We’re pretty much all back in-person right now, and I have to admit, I’m loving teaching/taking classes in a classroom again. I’ve also gotten the opportunity to visit and host people after going a couple years without it, and truly, nothing compares to hugging someone you love, or curling up next to them to watch a movie. Everyone needs snuggles sometimes.
I’ve also been happily receiving feedback on my latest chapbook, bugbutter (purchase), and reading submissions for my NeMLA panel on Mad prose/poetics and narrative noncompliance, taking abstracts through 9/30. Between preparing for that, doing my own work, and dealing with everyday errands, my schedule is pretty packed, but these are the times it’s especially important to have media oases. I hope you make time in the next few weeks to escape the noise and dive into books, music, and whatever else makes you happy.
Okay, now to the recommendations.
